An American Pops Concert

What a heritage of music we have! As Peachtree looks forward to celebrating our own Centennial in the Fall of 2010, the Music Ministry celebrates the legacy of music in this country and at this church, bringing back guest musicians from past and recent history, including Yale organist Leslie Smith; the 8-year-old pianist Yannie Tan; Pop musicians of the present, plus many soloists and our own Chancel Choir. Join us as we salute our armed forces, journey through great music of the past, and look ahead to all that we have before us! Concert is free and open to the public; nursery is available for children 4 and under.

Mendelssohn's Elijah

Among oratorios, Handel’s Messiah and Mendelssohn’s Elijah maybe the most well-known and most often performed, but Elijah possesses the greatest dramatic impact. This mighty setting of the biblical narrative from 1 and 2 Kings features the raising of a boy from death, the stunning fire battle, the miracle of rain, and Elijah's own, personal search for the presence of the Living God.
Performed by the Peachtree Chancel Choir, soloists, brass and organ, this is the culminating event to our Sunday sermon series on Elijah during the entire month of January. Concert is FREE and open to the public; a free-will offering will be taken to benefit the Peachtree Concerts Ministry. Nursery is available for children 5 and under.

A spectacular holiday tradition in Atlanta, the Nicholas Bowden and Friends concert celebrates the season with festive music featuring extraodinary musicians. This year we welcome back the Atlanta Sacred Chorale, one of the city’s finest choral organizations, along with members of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and soloists Clay Hilley, Daniel Solberg, Jason Hardy and many others. This year's Nick and Friends offering will benefit the Bobby Dodd Institute. Don’t miss it!

Christmas at the Door: A Feast of Carols

Carolers are at your door! The Peachtree Music Ministry invites you to come home, and join us in a festive celebration of Christmas. With instruments, singers, bells, dancers (yes, dancers!) and soloists, you'll find music all over the Sanctuary, behind you, around you, in front of you and within you! Featuring a new arrangement of "Carol of the Bells" written for the Mormon Tabernacle Choir as well as the Shepherd Scene from "Amahl and the Night Visitors", this concert will bring home the joy and festivity of the season so much, that you will rush downstairs to the Williams Center after the concert to join us for "Carolers Fare" in the Williams Center! Concert is free and open to the public; nursery is available for children 4 and under. Bring your friends!

Atlanta’s Chorale: New Creation

The New Creation has been featured as guests for our Nick and Friends concerts as well as the WCBS Christmas Worship programs - - but finally, they have a concert all to themselves, the first concert in our 2009-2010 season!
The New Creation choral sound is characterized by a refined sense of dynamics and the rare ability to project exhilarating power and mystical quiet in its music. The result is a spiritually uplifting musical environment in which audience and performers meet in heightened fellowship in the presence of our Creator.
Instrumental to keeping the New Creation tradition strong and moving forward is director Tony Thompson. Mr. Thompson’s passion for the music, attention to detail, and exceptional skill in conducting have made him an esteemed musical talent around Atlanta for more than 20 years.

"To God be the Glory: A Commissioning Service for Worship and Music"

New this year, we open our 2009-2010 concert series with a special worship service, dedicating all our efforts in worship and music to the glory of God. Every children’s choir, bell choir, youth choir, adult ensemble, along with our ushers and the 11:05 musicians will participate in this unique service, featuring great congregational hymns and favorite choir anthems. A message will be given by Dr. John H. Roark, the retired senior pastor of Buford Presbyterian Church and Peachtree’s associate organist. This is not just an event for the "music people" - - this is a time for our congregation to pray for and uplift all our efforts in worshipping the living God! Service is open to all and free of charge. Nursery is available for children under 4 years.

Franklin Pond Chamber Music Recital

The students and faculty of Franklin Pond Chamber Music will present a string quartet concert, Tuesday, July 28 at 8:00pm in Kellett Chapel at Peachtree Presbyterian Church. The concert is free and open to the public.
Franklin Pond is a summer chamber music program for dedicated, pre-college string players, designed to provide its students intense musical training through considerable personal attention from an outstanding professional faculty.
This summer, sixteen highly talented young musicians from the greater Atlanta area will perform the works of Mozart, Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Brahms, Bartok and Gershwin.
